I have begun a new page on my website where I will track what is going on in Denver elections, starting with the special election to replace Rick Garcia.

The question is.....
Who is not running to replace Garcia?

To run for Council or Senate that is the question for Frangas??
Who is not running in this race. 10 people have taken out petition for city council. Something I just don't get.

From Denver Post: State Rep. Jerry Frangas, a Democrat, said he took out petition paperwork for the Denver city council race to represent the northwest area because he's been urged to run for the seat by constituents.

Frangas said he likely will stick with his plans to run for a state Senate seat, but wants to keep his options open. He said he'll make a final decision soon.

did he really?
As of noon on Friday, Frangas' name did not appear on the list of individuals pulling petitions.

Also, I actually counted 13 names on the list, including:

Paula Sandoval, Tony Trampler, Susan Shepherd, Georgia Sigala, Kenneth Padilla, Larry Ambrose, John Haney, Jon Lehman, Brian Ray, Katherine Cornwell, Christopher Jeffrey, Randle Swan, and Christopher Kinchin.

I don't know all these names, so it is possible that the petitions were pulled for Frangas by someone acting in his stead and his name inadvertently was not on the list, but rather his agent.

Dunno.

I have to believe that out of this list, we can likely count on at least 7 candidates making the ballot.

This will be a wild one and clearly have an impact on the Senate and House races in northwest Denver.

Frangas submitted petitions today
I called the Election Division and verified with them.

11 turn in petitions
I understand that 11 people turned in petitions.  All will likely make the ballot.

Dan's Denver Page Update
Dan, Can you update your Denver page to say the City special election is May 4th instead of the 3rd.

Thanks!

Actually the May 3rd is referring to the 2011 electiosn
I had the special election date correct in the box about the special.

[ Parent ]
You are right
My bad - didn't think about how confusing the two May dates will be.
